These students are just learning to drive, yet they’re already showing maturity and comprehension well beyond their years.The Trinity College Year 11 students have been named ABC series The New Inventors - Young Inventors of the Year 2011 after accepting the Bright Sparks Award this month.
The team, known as BaCoN, designed a Space Saver Spacer, which is a portable and collapsible large volume asthma spacer that saves about 80 per cent of the room taken up by a normal spacer.
Spokesperson of the group Liam Scott, the award and device is a team effort.
He said the device was realised after noticing fellow students didn’t take their spacers with them on school camp because they took up too much room.
Liam said they were supported by BAE Systems Australia who mentored them during work placements and now they work towards producing the device for the market.
